For the power supply of its data centers, Weservit uses a ring connection. This connection is connected to the mains. If the mains were to suddenly fail, your servers and installations will continue to receive power through a no-break power feed. In this way, Weservit’s data centers can remain operational for at least 50 hours independent of the mains power supply.
Specifications
From the racks, two separate power circuits run from the main distribution frames (MDF) to the mains. One of the circuits runs short-break directly from the MDF and the other one runs no-break via the UPS-installation. This no-break circuit is a redundant (N+1) UPS system, fitted out with two generators. It will provide your server and installations with power in case the power supply from the mains were to fail.
Most failures in data centers are caused by UPS switching errors. Which is why Weservit Dataplace has chosen not to supply both power feeds via a no-break UPS-system. By using both a no-break and a short-break system, the continuity of the power supply is always guaranteed.

Cooling or air conditioning is very important in a data center. Because of the large number of servers, temperatures would quickly reach dangerous levels without cooling. Operating servers generate heat. If possible, i.e. up to an outside temperature of 14 °C, our data center uses indirect free cooling, a very energy-saving and therefore environmentally friendly way of cooling. Outside air is used to cool the heat by means of dry coolers.
If the outside temperature is too high to employ full indirect free cooling, we switch to mixed mode. In this case cooling is done by a combination of free cooling and conventional cooling by means of a refrigerant. When the outside temperature is 24 °C or more, we switch to conventional cooling.
Redundant regulation
Regulating temperature is of course important, but humidity is also a key factor. In our data center, humidity is regulated to between 40% and 60%. To ensure the best possible service, we have decided to make the regulating systems fully redundant. In case of a defect or maintenance of the cooling system, your critical IT-infrastructure will remain at optimal ambient temperature. On the data floor there are so-called cold corridors: enclosed corridors which ensure efficient air regulation.
In the internet age, digital security is of paramount importance. Naturally, the security of your critical IT-infrastructure has top priority. Our data center is highly secure and meets the criteria of the strictest security certificates. The data center possesses the ISO27001:2008 certificate, which guarantees that the (digital) information security is fully up to par. The datacenter also possesses the BORG4 certificate, which demonstrates that the physical security of the grounds, the building, and the data floor(s) are guaranteed.
Digital security
If your servers are housed at our data center in Alblasserdam, you evidently want to prevent your confidential (business) data from falling into the wrong hands. It is therefore of great importance that you can rely on the best possible digital information security available. Our security experts guarantee the digital security of all your data.
Physical security
In addition, the physical security of the grounds is excellent because of the installation of a fence equipped with power fence and a number of entrances. At all entrances there is strict visitor control. Access to the grounds is only possible if you have an access pass or code. To gain access to the data floors, you need an access pass in combination with a fingerprint. The complete grounds, including the building and the data floors, are under surveillance by more than 50 cameras.
Your critical IT-infrastructure must be safeguarded in terms of continuity. Business operations must not be endangered. At our data center the necessary prevention measures are taken to safeguard continuity, one of which is fire prevention. As you can imagine, a fire in the data center could lead to great, possibly even irretrievably great, damage. This is why Dataplace has imposed the highest requirements with regard to fire prevention. This ensures that your servers and installations are not at risk.
Systems
To prevent a fire from breaking out, all data floors and technical spaces are equipped with a redundant fire alarm system: the so-called Very Early Smoke Detection Alarms system (VESDA). The system detects dust and soot particles in the air and sounds the alarm at an early stage in case of any threat. If a fire were to break out, gas extinguishing will cause the oxygen concentration to drop so low that the fire will quickly go out. This is done by using Aronite, a mixture of Argon and nitrogen. This mixture is stored at high pressure and, if a fire were to break out, will automatically be sprayed into the space. This way of firefighting prevents your equipment from suffering any (water) damage. At Weservcloud you are therefore guaranteed the highest level of fire prevention.
Connectivity is of great importance for any data center. Within our data center, connectivity is realized by means of three completely separate fibre channels to the big hubs in Amsterdam. There is also a fibre connection between Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and together these connections form a so-called fibre ring; an excellent base for connectivity.
Connectivity regularly leads to complicated questions. Our professionals in the field of connectivity can take care of any issues you might have in this regard. The expertise and experience they have gathered with regard to networks means they can solve any problems that might arise.
